Photography was such an important part of my life – helping me to leave a legacy. While I was here, I wanted to have a lot of fun, make memories and leave something behind – making memories for other people to look at. You might recognise me as the man off the TV show Big Life Fix, but I’m more than that, I’m James and these are my memories. I hope you enjoy looking at them and these memories translate into smiles.
In 2016 James took part in BBC2 programme called “Big Life Fix”. The show gave life-changing tasks to cutting edge designers, engineers and inventors with the goal of transforming the lives of participants. On the show, design engineer Jude Pullen helped James by building a device that would allow him take photographs without the use of his hands.
Living a life free of pain – this is the wish of those suffering from EB (Epidermolysis Bullosa), a potentially fatal skin condition that causes constant pain due to unstoppable internal and external blistering.
There are an estimated 500,000 people suffering from EB worldwide, and one in 227 of us carry a defective gene that causes the condition.
EB is more than what you see. In its most severe forms, EB is fatal; even in its mildest forms it can still cause lifelong disability and pain.
The overall impact of EB affects the whole body and psychological challenges are inevitable. Which is why we need to work tirelessly to find a cure.
